Wife of Ira Fulton Jones
Joanne Marilyn Jones of Fort Smith passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018.
Joanne was born September 26, 1929 in Little Rock to Horace Russell and Unice Lucille Wedge Campbell.
Joanne moved with her family to Blytheville, Arkansas where she was active in many organizations throughout her school years. Joanne was a cheerleader for Blytheville High School. During this time Joanne found her love for fashion, working and spending time in her parents’ exclusive ladies ready to wear clothing store. Joanne received her education in fashion merchandising at Southwestern in Memphis (now Rhodes College) being a member of AOPi sorority. Joanne also attended the University of Arkansas where she was elected “Razorback Beauty”. Joanne met the love of her life, Ira F. Jones Jr. at the University of Arkansas where they were married in 1950 and celebrated 64 years of marriage and active membership in First United Methodist Church. Joanne’s passions included her family, cooking and being a “professional mom” to Rusty and Becky along with all their friends. Joanne was co-owner of multiple Ben Franklin stores with her husband for many years.
Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Ira F. Jones Jr. and daughter Becky Jones Moore.
Joanne is survived by son and daughter in law Rusty and Sherry jones of Fort Smith.
Private burial at Roselawn Cemetery prior to Joanne’s Memorial Service 11:00 am Friday, June 1, 2018 at Roebuck Chapel of First Methodist Church 200 North 15th Street Fort Smith, Arkansas.
