Russell William Jones, 78, of Fort Smith died Saturday, April 26, 2008. He was born July 30, 1929, in Winfield, Kan. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a retired electrical contractor, the owner of R.W. Jones Electric Co., a member of the Arkansas Chapter of Campers on Mission and Grand Avenue Baptist Church. He was the widower of Mary Jones. Funeral was held Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; two daughters, Diana Weir of Barling and Carol Gilbertson of North Richland Hills, Texas; a son, Darrell Jones of Fort Smith; a stepdaughter, Peggy Kramer of Fort Smith; a brother, Ralph Jones of Wichita, Kan.; six grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers were Walt, Jordan and Brett Gilbertson, Brian Weir, Aaron Jones and Lance McCarver. Honorary pallbearers were the Henry Oliver Sunday school class of Grand Avenue Baptist Church.

Mary A. Jones, 69, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, in Fort Smith. She was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church and worked for Wal-Mart in data entry.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Grand Avenue Baptist Church with burial at Roselawn cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Russell W. Jones; two daughters, Diana Weir of Barling and Carol Gilbertson of North Richland Hills, Texas; a son, Darrell Jones of Fort Smith; a sister, Helen Sheridan of Georgetown, Texas; a brother, Charles Fowler of Fort Smith; and six grandchildren, Brian and Michelle Weir, Aaron and Ashley Jones, Jordan and Brett Gilbertson. Pallbearers will be Darrell and Aaron Jones, Walt, Jordan and Brett Gilbertson and Brian Weir.
