Stella B Hairston, 99, went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, August 4, 2011 at Fianna Hills Nursing Home.
Stella was born October 23, 1911 to Oda and Hattie Long in Bokoshe, OK.
Stella was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Pocola, Oklahoma; and graduated from the Sparks School of Nursing in 1935. Stella was a retired nurse.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter E Hairston; and two sisters, Elta Moore and Bernice Gronner.
She is survived by her sister, Wynema Martin of Fort Smith; two brothers, Onace Long and his wife Ann of Trona, California and Dee Long of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was lovingly known as "Aunt Stellie" by nieces Sandra Walker, her husband Paul and family of Fort Smith, Carla Martin and family of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Janet Reichert and husband Rick of Lansing, Kansas. She also leaves behind nephews and families, Harris Moore and wife Nancy of Berryville, Oklahoma, Don Martin and wife Gwen of Greenwood, Arkansas, Joe Martin of Fort Smith, and Bruce Gronner of Chicago, Illinois; great nephews Rocky, Jared and Cody ; great nieces Ashley, Amber, McKenna, Kristin, Shelly, Brandi, Cindy, Tonya, Bonnie, Rachel and Leah; and many great great nieces and nephews.
She was truly loved and will be missed, but we know that one day we will see her mischievous twinkle in her eyes again.
Graveside service will be Monday, August 8, 2011 at Roselawn Cemetery at 9:00 AM.
