Mrs. Etta Perry, 81, of Mt. Holly, died Wednesday afternoon in a Camden hospital following a long illness. Mrs. Perry was born in Columbia County on June 17, 1884, and was the daughter of Jeff and Ellen Burchfield. She had lived in Mt. Holly for the past 62 years and was a member of the Silver Hill Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, A. J. Perry of Mt. Holly; three sons, Jack Perry of El Dorado, Willie Perry of Mt. Holly, and James Perry of Camden; two daughters, Mrs. Custer Machen and Mrs. Alvin Smith, both of Mt. Holly, two brothers, Frank Birchfield of Jones, Okla., and Park Birchfield of El Dorado, one sister, Mrs. Everett Boshear of Dallas, Tex.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Liberty Methodist Church with Rev. Harold Davis and Rev. R. E. Patton officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Earl Lewis, David Beavers, Pete Watson, Dee Watson, Colon Watson and J. L. Dews. The body will be taken to the home of Mrs. Alvin Smith in Mt. Holly at 3:30 p.m. Thurs. afternoon. (The El Dorado Times - November 4, 1965)
