David A. "Gus" Morgan, 76, of 1005 E. First St., died Saturday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in El Dorado April 9, 1889, the son of Zeke and Lizzie Scott Morgan. He was a member of Parker's Chapel Methodist Church and a retired employe of Monsanto Chemical Co. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Harriett Pickering Morgan; two daughters, Mrs. Hamp S. Jones of El Dorado, Mrs. Robert Foster of Falls Church, Va.; four sons, David Gordon Morgan, El Dorado, John F. Morgan, El Dorado, Gerald E. Morgan, Tulsa, Oklahoma, James S. Morgan, Air Force in England; two sisters, Mrs. Polk Bell, El Dorado, Mrs. Daisy Pendleton, El Dorado; two brothers, Roy Morgan, El Dorado, Otis Morgan, Jena, La.; eleven grandchildren. Funeral services have been announced for Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Pratt Funeral Home with the Rev. W. W. Barron officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery with Masonic rites conducted by El Dorado Lodge No. 13. Active pallbearers will be Paul Francis Pickering, Harold Bell, Jimmy Glen Miller, D. C. Morgan, Doyle Morgan and Bill Pickering. Members of the Senior Citizens Club will be honorary pallbearers. (The El Dorado Times - August 30, 1965)
