Norma Jean Wooten, 87, of Urbana, passed from this life on April 11, 2016. She was born March 8, 1929 to Lewie Murphy and Faye Gilmore Murphy. She was a member of Green Grove Chapel in Strong. She loved serving her Lord in any way she could and enjoyed teaching Sunday School, which she did for many years. She also loved talking about the Lord to anyone who would listen. She loved her family and loved spending time with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years, Melton Wooten, one sister, Blondell Mullens and two brothers, O.G. (Bud) Murphy and Charles Murphy.

Survivors include her son , O’Neil Wooten (Dianne) of Strong and her daughter, Brenda Gail Hale (Randy) of Strong, three grandchildren: Wendi Laster (Terry) of Strong, Casey Wooten (Cindy) of Strong and Cody Hale (Wendy) of Hamburg. Six great-grandchildren: Dylan Laster (Shelby), Colton Laster, Wyatt Wooten, Hope Wooten, Gatlin Hale and Jace Hale, one sister, Mary Jo Wooten of Strong.

Visitation was held from 6-8pm on Tuesday April 12, 2016 at Green Grove Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday April 13, 2016 at Green Grove Chapel with Gerald Hicks, Rickey Smth, and Blake Wooten officiating. Pallbearers will be: Mickey Cain, Bryant Wooten, Greg Wooten, Jeff Jerry, Richard Dumas, and Bubba Medlin. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: the Waller brothers: David Waller, Richard Waller, and Danny Waller. Burial will be at Green Grove Cemetery under the direction of Perry’s Funeral Chapels.

A Special thank you to Timberlane Health and Rehabilitation and also Life Touch Hospice for the wonderful care they gave during her stay.
