Mrs. Monette "Monie" Phillips Duncan of Little Rock(Pulaski County), Arkansas, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008. She was 83 years old. Mrs. Duncan was born in 1924 in Beebe(White County), Arkansas to the late Joseph and Eva Lee(Brown)Phillips. She was an retired employee for the Arkansas Student Loan Guarntee Foundation, where she assisted in the funding of student loans. Ms. Duncan was a 44 year breast cancer suvivor!
She was a resident of Woodland Heights, where she participated in the style sows and the Halloween and Christmas Door decorating contests.
During Ms. Duncan's retirement, she was an employee of the Arkansas House of Representatives during the regular and special session of the Legislature.
Ms. Duncan was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband: Leland D. Duncan.
She is survived by one son: Dwight L. Duncan and his wife Barbara, of Alanta, Georgia; a daughter: Elizabeth Harmon and husband, John T. of Bedford, Texas; two granddaughters: MIchelle Hoge Swain and husband Roy, of Conway, Arkansas and Taylor Ann Duncan of Atlanta, Georgia; and one precious great-grandchild: Hope Tate of Little Rock, Arkansas; "bonus" grandchildren: HOpe, Trent, and Hazel; "bonus" great-grandchildren: Hayden, Hannah, Stephen, Hollis, Harmon and Madeline.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was buried at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith.
