Dorothy Mae Ables, age 85, of El Dorado, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Hudson Nursing Home.
Dorothy was born on December 5,1937 at Moro Bay, AR; she was the daughter of Johnnie and Virginia Shirey Gates. A minister's wife, Dorothy was a homemaker known for her cooking, a musician skilled at the piano. She also enjoyed reading, camping, fishing on the river, time with family and friends and playing bunco and canasta.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Hattie Mae Bishop, a brother Eugene Gates and a granddaughter Alicia Lynn Hayes.
Survivors are her husband of 64 years Rev. Mack V. Ables; daughters Lisa Ham (Buddy) of El Dorado, Kelly Bradshaw Coats (Randy) of Hot Springs Village, Sherry Hayes Moore of El Dorado. Along with Grandsons Joey Hayes, Jarrod Hayes, Brandt Bradshaw, Corey Bradshaw, Bradley Ham and Blake Ham.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 pm to 7 pm at Young's Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 2 pm, Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Green Grove Chapel with Rev. Mike Hardin officiating. Interment will follow at Green Grove Cemetery.
