King James Collier, Jr., 81, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Friday, April 11, 2008 in Fort Smith.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the National Association of Homebuilders, and the American Water Works Association for over 50 years. He was the Associate life director for The Greater Fort Smith Association of Home Builders. He retired from Arkhola Sand and Gravel after 33 years of service as a salesman. He was awarded Methodist Village volunteer of the year in 2005, and in 2006 was awarded Fort Smith Volunteer of the year, he also volunteered at Sparks Regional Medical Center in the ICU waiting room. He was a big red contributor for 11 years at the University of Arkansas. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Markwell Collier. Memorial service was Monday, April 14, 2008 at Roebuck Chapel with a private family committal at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.

He is survived by his wife Jean Jones Collier of the home; two daughters: Tricia Sloan of Freeport, Florida and Jamie Garner of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one son: John Collier of Plano, Texas; two step-daughters: Ronnie Jones and Brenda Elliott both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one Aunt: Connie Clement of Fort Smith, Arkansas; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and seven step-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were The Gleaners Sunday School Class.
