Douglas Fairbanks Boyett, 89, of Fort Smith, died in his home Thursday June 11, 2009.

He was a retired Superintendent at Fort Smith Athletic Mining and Smelting Company and later was a carpenter and a painter. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in the 48th Armor Division and serving in New Guinea.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Wortz Boyett and an infant daughter Shirley Boyett.

Services were June 15, 2009 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Roselawn Cemetery, under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home.

Survivors include his daughter Helen Lewis of Van Buren, AR; a son Milton Boyett of Fort Smith, AR; a grandson and his wife, Doug and Lori Lewis of Alma, AR and a great granddaughter Carmella Lewis of Alma, AR.

Pallbearers were Doug Lewis, Milton Boyett, Bob Childers, Jim Wyrosdick, Jerry Armstrong and Gary Wortz. Honorary pallbearer will be Rex Yancy.
