Earl E. Phillips, 76, of Junction City died Friday morning in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born February 16, 1896 in Junction City, the son of Elisa and Ida Caldwell Phillips. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Junction City. He was a retired iron worker and lifelong resident of Junction. More recently, he was the Sexton of the Roselawn cemetery. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Antoinette Everhardt; two sons, Earl E. Phillips, Jr. and Ray R. Phillips, both of Dallas, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Jack Wilson, and Mrs. Harvey Fullerton, both of Junction City and Mrs. J. W. Cook of Dallas, Tex.; three brothers, Roy Phillips of Jonesboro, La., Shelby Phillips of Eros, La., and Harry Phillips of Crossett; three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Barnes of Calhoun, La., Mrs. Guy Smith and Miss Jacque Phillips, both of Junction City, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Junction City with the Rev. D. L. McCauley assisting. Interment will follow in Roselawn cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. The family will be at the Jack Wilson residence and remains were taken to the Bailey Funeral Home in Junction City late Friday afternoon and will remain there until one hour prior to service.
