Janet Ward Wheelus, 94, of Junction City, AR went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 5, 2022 in Dardanelle, AR.
Janet was born May 18, 1928 in Junction City, AR to the late Josie Wise Ward and Cletus Ebenezer Ward.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Doyle Wheelus, her brothers, William C. Ward and Charles E. Ward, and daughter-in-law, Rene Denham Wheelus.
Janet was married to the love of her life, Doyle Wheelus for 55 years until his death in 2002.
During the war years, Janet loved to dance to the sounds of the Big Bands. And on most weekends, you might hear the music of Elvis or Southern Gospel music coming from the Wheelus home. She loved to cook, sew but her greatest love was caring for her family.
An entrepreneur at heart, Janet and Doyle owned and operated Wheelus Grocery for many years. She later operated her beauty shop for 45 years before setting down her scissors and comb for the last time at the age of eight-eight.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ricky Wheelus and wife Penny of Harrison, AR, Dennis Wheelus and wife Brenda of Russellville, AR and Glen Wheelus and wife Sherri of Wylie, TX, five grandchildren, Ashley Wheelus and wife Crystal of Star City, AR, Leon Wheelus and wife Tracy, of Russellville AR, Michael Wheelus and wife Becky of Tulsa, OK, Lana Smith and husband Tyler of Colorado Springs, CO and Jordan Wheelus of Fayettevlle, AR, five great grandchildren, Tristan Wheelus, Carlie Wheelus, Kyle Wheelus, Knox Wheelus, and Cruz Wheelus, her brother Paul K. Ward, sister-in-law, Peggy Ward and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Junction City, AR.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Junction City with Rev. Jim Bynum and Rev. Bruce Cardin officiating. Interment will be in the Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Junction City, AR.
