March 22, 1953 - February 23, 2017
*Obituary
Linda Gail Allen, 63 of Ft. Smith, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017.
She was born March 22, 1953 in Ft. Smith.
Linda was a 1971 graduate of Northside High School. She attended Westark Community College before starting her career as a registered nurse in 1984 at Sparks Hospital, where she worked for more than 30 years until she retired in August 2016. She was a devout and faithful Christian, and was a member of West-Ark Church of Christ.
Linda loved her life through the love she had for her family. Cooking for and spending time with her children, her grandchildren or any of her closest friends were the activities that made her happiest. Although she always loved spending time at home, especially since her retirement from Sparks in 2016, she also loved traveling and seeing new places. Some of the trips that she loved most included New York City, Washington D.C., the eastern and western sides of the Caribbean from three different cruises and most recently San Francisco and Las Vegas.
Some of Linda's favorite hobbies included attending the school and sporting activities of her grandchildren, fishing, listening to her favorite music, shopping for her family or herself or hitting a jackpot at a slot machine. She was also a lifelong fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, and loved going to sporting events whenever she had the chance. At home, Linda took enormous pride in her always perfectly-decorated home, making it feel welcome to anybody who walked in the front door.
Linda will always be remembered for her kind-hearted spirit, her willingness to always help when she could and for the love and compassion she had not only for other people, but most importantly her family.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Thursday, March 2, 2017 at West-Ark Church of Christ with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Linda is survived by her husband Gary Allen of the home; her daughter; Amy Burkhart of Alma, two sons; Nick Allen and his wife Sara of Ft. Smith, and Nathan Allen of San Francisco, CA, her mother; Ruby Nichols of Van Buren, her sister Karen Snipes of Van Buren, and her five grandchildren; Dakota, Landon, Levi, Brody, and Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her father Carl Nichols.
Pallbearers will be Paul Reano, Brian Harris, David Payne, Dakota Burkhart, Levi Burkhart, Landon Burkhart, and Brody Allen.
