Roma Lee Brittain, 77, of Lavaca, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Civil Service at Fort Chaffee, member of First Baptist Church in Lavaca and a World War II Army veteran.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Lavaca with burial at Oak Valley Cemetery in Lavaca under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Lavaca.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda; three daughters, Shirley Stem of California, Carolyn Gray of Booneville and Rhonda Luce of Lavaca; three sons, Roma Lee Brittain Jr. of Charleston, and Greg and Doug Brittain, both of Lavaca; one sister, Fern Sosebee of Lavaca; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Col. Ray Spence, Col. Richard Brown, Ted Applegate, Wes Brittain, Jim Bean and Daniel Gray.

Wanda Mae Douglas Brittain, 88, of Lavaca, passed away to be with her Lord Monday, December 16, 2013 in Fort Smith. She was born June 13, 1925 in Lavaca to Weaver and Ruby Douglas. Wanda was a retired poultry producer. She was a homemaker who dearly loved her family. She grew up during the Depression and hard times. She was a great wife, cook, seamstress, gardener, and quilt maker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roma Lee Brittain and a brother Denver Douglas of Shafter, CA. She was an active member of First Baptist Lavaca until her health began to wane. She is survived by her 5 children: daughter Carolyn Gray and husband Chester of Booneville; son Roma Lee Brittain Jr. and wife Debra of Alma; son Greg Brittain of Lavaca, daughter Rhonda Hoover of Fort Smith and son Doug Brittain and wife Debbie of Lavaca, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Wilma Maples of Greenhurst Nursing Home and Virginia Jeffries of Santa Paula, CA, and 1 brother Charley Douglas and wife Sedalia of Lavaca and 6 nieces and 2 nephews. Funeral service will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca, AR. Public viewing starts at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and 9:00 a.m. till service on Thursday. Family and friends viewing will be Wednesday night from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca, AR. Burial will be at Oak Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Daniel Gray, Joshua Luce, Johnathan Luce, Gregory Brittain and great grandsons Seth Green and Christian Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Douglas and Brent Douglas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, AR.
