Mrs. Tommie Joyce Cates, age 76 of Junction City, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Courtyard Nursing and Rehab Center in El Dorado. Tommie was born February 25, 1944 in Pine Bluff, AR. She obtained her Associates of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from South Ark in 1981 and later obtained her LPN License from Oil Belt Vocational College in 1986. Tommie worked for 20 plus years at Hudson Nursing Home. She later worked at Junction City Nursing Home and Arkansas Department of Health for 13 years before her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Donald Adams and J.C. Adams.
Survivors include; her husband of 58 years, Leon Cates of Junction City; two sons, James Cates and wife Leslie, and Joel Cates and wife Rhonda, all of El Dorado; five grandchildren, Breanna Cates Braswell, Kristen Cates Davis and husband Steven, Brandi White and husband Josh, Joe Neel, and Rand Sinclair, all of El Dorado; seven great grandchildren, Connor Braswell, Coleigh White, Jacob Neel, Brooklynn Neel, Dalton White, Joseph Vernon Neel, and Rodney James White. She is also survived by her loyal K9 Companion, Dixie.
Visitation will begin at 2:30 pm, followed by graveside services at 3:00 pm on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Roselawn Cemetery in Junction City, with Bro. Clay Dickson officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
