James H. "Red" Johnson, 70 of Lavaca was born July 24, 1938, in Lavaca AR, and passed this life on Oct.18,2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas (Tom) L. and Edna (Weaver) Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Fisher) Johnson of the home; one son, Larry D. Johnson of Springdale; one sister, Mary A. Gibbs and husband Jerry of Lavaca; and a special friend, Judy Housley of Fort Smith. He is also survived by several cousins and nieces and nephews; special nurses, Stacy Wheatly, Deanna Turnspeed and others from St.Edward Mercy Hospice.
James was a retired, self-employed truck driver. He was a member of the Sebastian County Mounted Patrol, Victory Lodge 470 in Barling, Van Buren Royal Arch Masons No. 3 and a member of First Baptist Church of Lavaca.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct.21,2008 at Lewis Chapel in Lavaca Masonic graveside services will be at Hickory Ridge Cemetery.
Interment will be at Hickory Ridge Cemetery, northwest of Lavaca. Officiating will be Curtis Smithson, with Pastor Danny Forshee assisting.
