POTTSBORO - Mary Tibbits, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on February 20, 2014 at the age of 98, after a long illness. Mrs. Tibbits was born on October 10, 1915, in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, to Huey G. and Emma (McGhee) Branch. She was their youngest child.

Mrs. Tibbits was preceded in death by her parents, her five siblings, her late husband, James M. Rushing, and her second husband, James Tibbits, and three children, Emma Faith Baylor, Mary Weitkamp, and William Rushing.

She is survived by her sons, Richard J. Rushing, Robert G. Rushing, and James Rushing and their respective spouses, ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, all of which will miss her dearly.

Mrs. Tibbits resided in Louisiana in the early years of her marriage to Mr. Rushing. The family moved to Junction City, Arkansas in 1951. Mary moved to Denison in 1990, where she made her home until her family moved her to Pottsboro in December of 2013.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers that were with her for the last months; Judy Dumas, Ann Coates and Jana Spohn.

A private family funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 24 at the Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Allen Snider officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Denison. There is no set time for visitation.
