Leonard Gordon Orrell, 68, of Delhi, La., died Friday noon at a Baton Rouge, La. sanitorium following a lengthy illness. He was a retired supervisor of the Deltic Farms and Timber Co. at Epps, La. Born Oct. 23, 1896, at Lester, near Gurdon, he was the son of Eleanor Johnston and John Edward Orrell. He was a member of the Delhi Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ruth Jones Orrell of Delhi; three sons, Leonard Gordon Orrell, Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa, Thomas "sonny" Orrell of Midland, Tex. and Bill Orrell of Alexandria, La.; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Ruth Salley of Georgia; four sisters, Mrs. J. S. Cheek, Sr., Mrs. George Wyss, both of El Dorado, Mrs. Harold Christensen of Mt. Pleasant, Tex. and Mrs. Ceil Douglas og Albuquerque, N.M.; three brothers, Louis Edward Orrell, Johnny Ellis Orrell, Alvah Francis Orrell, all of El Dorado; and seven grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Gay Funeral Home in Delhi. Graveside services will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Rest Haven Cemetery in El Dorado. (The El Dorado Times - June 26, 1965)
