Lawrence A. Sharum, 94, of Fort Smith died Thursday, June 20, 1996 in a local hospital. The widower of Margaret Von Hatten Sharum, he was retired owner and operator of L.A. Sharum's Green houses, Nursery and Farms. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling, Knights of Columbus, Arkansas Nurseryman Association and Southern Florist Society and a member of a pioneer family who founded the Massard Community in 1880.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. June 23 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. June 24 in Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann Lafoon and Evangeline Werner, both of Fort Smith; a son, Lawrence Eugene Sharum of Fort Smith; six grand children, Larry, Frank and Linda Sharum, Leo W. Lafoon Jr., Robert Lafoon and Camille Anne Werner and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robert A., Larry and Frank Sharum, Leo W. Lafoon Jr., Robert Lafoon and Jerry Smith.

Margaret Von Hatten Sharum, 92, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, October 18, 1995 in a local nursing home. The former executive secretary/manager of W.B. Barton Lumber Mills of Arkansas and Oregon, she was a retired co-owner and operator of Sharum's Greenhouses and Nursery and a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling and the Mother's Society at Sacred Heart of Mary.
Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. today at Scared Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. October 20 at Calvary Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence A. Sharum, two daughters, Margaret Ann Lafoon and Evangeline F. Werner, both of Fort Smith; a son, Lawrence Eugene Sharum of Fort Smith; two sisters, Lena Scholze and Dora Mae Dunn, both of Fort Smith.
