James Franklin Parker of Norphlet, Arkansas was born on December 29, 1937 in Camden, Arkansas. Known in his younger days as “the guy who loved to fight” he won his last fight on July 30, 2022 at his home, at the age of 84.

James was preceded in death by his son Jimmy Parker, Jr; one daughter Jennifer Cox; and his dog Tasha who he loved dearly.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife Betty Reuter Parker, of almost 64 years August 23, who was his heart and forever best friend; his daughter Julie Cates and her husband Joey of Norphlet, AR; four grandchildren Adrianne DeLancey and her husband Josh of West Monroe, LA, Justin Cates and his wife Natalie, Cole Cates, Brennan Cates, also known as his “Buddy Boy”, all of Norphlet, AR; five great-grandchildren Jared, Jimmy, Jeana, Wyatt, Rylee Jo; step-mother Clifford Parker; half-brother Johnny Parker; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

James loved to garden, pick wild berries, fish with his best friend Bill Ray, and hunt. He had two women in his life that spoiled him: his mother and his wife.

Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Norphlet, AR, Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 2:00pm, Rev. Doug Wills officiating. Visitation prior from 1:00-2:00pm. Interment to follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Eldorado, AR. Undertaking provided by Perry’s Funeral Chapel of El Dorado, AR
