*Obituary

Barbara Miller Throneberry, 85 of Conway, AR passed away August 5, 2021. She was born on September 22, 1935 in Little Rock to the late Emmett and Willie Miller.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jimmy B Throneberry. Barbara is survived by her son Bart (Karen) Throneberry and son Chris (Minette) Throneberry. Grandchildren Casey (Brandon) Thurow, Corey (Lauren) Throneberry, Zach Throneberry and Madi Throneberry. 6 great grandchildren: Emerie, Grayson, Gabe and Claire Auden Thurow, Caden and Kinley Throneberry.

Barbara grew up in Little Rock, AR. And graduated from Little Rock High School in 1952. She then attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee. There she met the love of her life, Jimmy Throneberry. They married September 12, 1955. They then moved to Abilene, Texas then to East Lansing, Michigan. In 1965, Jimmy's work brought them to Conway. Many happy years were spent here raising their 2 boys. Barbara returned to college to finish her degree after moving to Conway. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Education and also a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught 22 years in Little Rock, AR School district as a teaching mentor for the National Teacher Corp, 3rd grade teacher and as a reading teacher for grades 1-6.

All through her life she formed deep and lasting friendships from her junior high school group of 13 nicknamed the "Dirty 13", her teaching years and friendships at her home church, University of Church of Christ.
Barbara loved her family with all her heart. She loved being a mother and a grandmother and having the whole family together at special times of the year. She will be greatly missed. She loved her church and the happy times with her ladies group, the Bible Study, and potlucks.

The family wants to thank her loving caregiver, Wilma Brooks, Brandon Phipps of HomeWell, all her lady friends, and University Church of Christ.

Visitation will be held at the University Church of Christ in Conway on Monday, August 9, 2021, from 12:00-2:00pm. Funeral service to follow at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to University Church of Christ in Conway, Renewal Ranch, Haven House, and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Jimmy B. Throneberry, 78, went to be with the Lord May 23, 2012. He was born December 3, 1931 to Oscar Lee and Florence Timmons Throneberry in Huntsville, Alabama.

Jimmy grew up in Fayetteville, Tennessee, graduating from high school there. He kept close ties with his Fayetteville friends.

Jimmy attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee, receiving his BS degree. He received an Andrew Carnegie Fellowship to attend George Peabody College and received his MA degree in Biology.

He received a National Science Foundation Fellowship and earned his PhD degree from Michigan State University. Jimmy taught biology 6 years at Abilene Christian College and 33 years at the University of Central Arkansas. He wrote two biology textbooks with Dr. Neal Buffaloe, Principles of Biology and Concepts of Biology.

He was responsible for founding the chapter of the American Association of University Professors at the University of Central Arkansas. Jimmy attended the University Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Bobby Lee Throneberry of Rome, Georgia.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Miller Throneberry, his sons James Barton Throneberry (wife Karen) and Christopher Lee Throneberry (Minette Densmore), his grandchildren, Casey Throneberry Thurow (Brandon), Corey Barton Throneberry (Lauren), Daniel Zachary Throneberry, and Madison Lee Throneberry, and his great grandchildren, Emerie Grace Thurow and Grayson Michael Thurow. Two new great grandchildren are expected this summer.

Special thanks to Dr. Tyrone Lee, Dr. Sue Tsuda and her nurses, and Rachelle and the other nurses and staff at Conway Regional Medical Center, who provided comfort and care to Jimmy and his family.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 25, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the University Church of Christ, 3155 Dave Ward Drive, Conway, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends following the service.
