Bonnie Marks Garner won her battle over cancer as she left this world and entered into the gates of Heaven to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 02, 2012. She was born on December 11, 1931 to Eric Edgar and Lorene Langley Marks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Lorene Marks; a great grandchild, Braydon Cole Jones; and two sisters-in-law, Vivian Hardin Marks and Sandy Pope Marks.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald L. Garner; and three children, Camille Garner DeVaney and husband, Chuck of Laurinburg, North Carolina, Machelle Garner Jones and husband, Jim of El Dorado and Rodney Garner and wife, Diane Davis of Camden; three brothers, Earmon Marks of Camden, Bobby Marks and wife, Doris of Springdale and James Marks of Camden; and sister-in-law, LaVerne Garner Scott and husband, Doyal of Mobile, Alabama.

She is also survived by six grandchildren, Adrienne Greenlee Queen and husband, Sean of Arkadelphia, Keith Greenlee of Laurinburg, North Carolina, Jason Jones and wife, Laura of Ruston, Louisiana, Stephen Jones and wife, Bridget of Maumelle, Bryan Jones and wife, Susan of Little Rock and Melanie Garner Guy and husband, Dennis of Gravette; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who love her dearly.

Bonnie graduated from Fairview High School, Camden in 1950. She married Donald Garner on July 01, 1950. Bonnie chose to be a home maker for her husband and children. As the children were graduating from high school, she began to work outside the home to help send her children to college. She worked at various jobs including Star Fashions, M & P Bank and Marks Supply. At age 51, she entered nursing school. She worked at Medical Center of South Arkansas and then several nursing homes to be near her mother in her reclining days. She later became a hospice nurse until partial retirement in 1993 while she continued part time service for several years.

She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and was especially devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She has been a faithful member of Elliott Baptist Church and supportive to her husband when he entered the ministry in 1975, serving in several churches in Ouachita County and Union County. Upon his retirement they returned to Elliott Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be 9:45 AM Saturday, August 04, 2012 at Bethesda Cemetery with Pastor Andy Brown officiating. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, August 04, 2012 at Elliott Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Burks of Camden and Dr. Don Moore of Little Rock officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Proctor Funeral Home. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christian Health Center of Camden, Hospice of Camden or Elliott Baptist Church.
