Barbara Quay Burks, 82, of Camden, died Sunday, September 14, 2014, at the Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden. Mrs. Burks was born August 7, 1932 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Hiram Quay and Mary Louise Maltbie, who preceded her death.

She was a member of Mt. Holly Community Church in Mt. Holly, and Cullendale First Baptist Church in Camden. Mrs. Burks served as a pastor’s wife for over 60 years. She was a great mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Dr. Jimmy Burks of Camden; son, Jimmy Burks, Jr. and wife, Stephanie of Alvin, TX; daughters, Jodie Wright and husband, Doug of Madison, MS, and Judy Brooks and husband, Sherman of Camden; four grandchildren, Jessica Neely and husband, Matt, Glenn Wright, Jacob Burks, and Courtney Burks; and two great grandchildren, Bryce Neely and Logan Neely, and many friends and relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Burks will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Cullendale First Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Wright and Dr. Wade Totty officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery. Proctor Funeral Home of Camden is in charge of arrangements.
