Alfred Clay Hale, 77, of 738 Fairview Rd., died Tuesday morning at his home. He was born March 26, 1895, at Lead Hill, and graduated from the University of Arkansas, receiving his masters from Colorado State University. He taught vocational agriculture for twenty years at the Fairview Schools, and also taught at Cave Hill and Foreman. He worked for the U>S> Foreign Service for 12 years, serving in Thailand, Equador and Guiana. Hale was instrumental in organizing the National Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association, and served as one of the first presidents. He was a member of the Camden Lions Club, the Arkansas Historical Association and Masons. He was currently serving as vice-president of the Northern Nut-Growers Association. He was an active member of Fairview United Methodist Church, and served on the administrative board. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bess Akin Hale; four sons, Clay Hale of El Dorado, David Hale of Rison, Rev. Ralph Hale of Hot Springs and Joe Hale of Nashville, Tenn.; one brother, Horace Hale of Klamath Fall, Ore.; four sisters, Mrs. L. S. Willis of Warren, Mrs. Bill Baber of Arkadelphia, Mrs. Ted Walker of Springdale and Mrs. Carl Murray of Pine Bluff, and ten grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Fairview Methodist Church. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery by Proctors. (Camden News - December 13, 1972)
