BELLA VISTA — Elmo (Mo) David Kunkel, (93), of Bella Vista, Ark., died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Hamilton County, Texas, to Albert J. Kunkel and Nettie Jand Appleby Kunkel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lillian Kunkel; brothers, Roland, Albert, James, Charles and Daniel Kunkel and sister, Marie Jahns.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Carlene Kunkel; sons Daniel (Linda) Kunkel and Barney (Kathy) Kunkel; stepdaughter, Lynnae (Elwood) Lewellen; stepsons, Randy (Anita) Langhover and Rod Langhover, 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Elmo served in the Army Air Corps and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, God Conduct Medal, French Freedom Medal among others. He was honorably discharged.

He was a charter member of Bella Vista Lutheran Church, a Life Member and past Commander of the Bella Vista VFW Post No. 9063; served on the Honor Guard of the Bella Vista VFW and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 341.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 190 Forrest Hills Blvd, Bella Vista, Ark.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2588 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.

BELLA VISTA — Johanna (Jo) Carlene Kunkel, 86, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Oct. 7, 2015, after a long battle with Alzheimer's at Concordia Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born March 22, 1929, in Wichita, Kan., to the late Carl and Erva (McDonald) Forbes.

For 25 years, she was co-owner and General Manager of Irwin Trailer Mfg. in Kansas. Jo was a Commercial Real Estate Broker and a Business management Consultant in Kansas and Arkansas for 10 years. She and Mo, who preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 2015, lived in Bella Vista for over 30 years.

She is survived by three children, H. Lynnae (Charles E. "Woody") Lewellen of El Dorado, Kan., F. Randy (Anita) Langhover of Berryville, Ark., and Rodd H. Langhover of Pittsburg, Kan.; two stepsons, Dan (Linda) Kunkel of Texas and Barney (Kathy) Kunkel of Bella Vista, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Michael (Sherry) Lewellen of Larkspur, Colo., Bryan (Kim) Lewellen of Wellington, Kan., Tyler (Jennifer) Lewellen of Oxford, Kan., Jennifer and Christopher Langhover both of Bentonville, Ark., Leila Langhover and J.P. Langhover of Berryville, Ark., and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 9 a.m., Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd. Pastor Paul Hass will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Fayetteville National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bella Vista Lutheran Church Building Fund.
