Obituary:
Mr. Donald Ray Stacy of Newport departed this life on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Batesville. He was born July 27, 1933, at Tuckerman the son of Ray Phillip Stacy and Lena Doris (Compton) Stacy.
​Mr. Stacy was a member of the Grubbs High School Class of 1951. Miss Billie Jean Johns married Mr. Donald Ray Stacy and together they shared 63 years, making their home in the Remmel Community and later Newport, raising six children and opening their home to many other children, treating them as their own.
Mr. Stacy was a self employed farmer and entrepreneur. He was active in many local and state affairs over the years. Locally he was a member of the Economic Development Commission, a member of the Newport Airport Commission, 4-H Alumni and Leader, a member of the Richland Saddle Club, Delta Film Commission, Farm Bureau, and his family was voted Farm Family of Jackson County in 1975. Mr. Stacy was also a devoted member of the Newport Greyhound Booster Club, supporting his sons and daughters in their athletic activities throughout high school. Mr. Stacy was also an avid supporter of the Arkansas State University Indian Booster Club. His activities on the state level include serving as special assistant to Mr. Dale Bumpers and Mr. Bill Alexander and serving as a member and past President of the Regional Production Credit Association, and served as the past PCA bank President in St. Louis.
​Mr. Stacy was a member of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ. He was a former member of the Remmel Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon and song leader for many years.
​Mr. Stacy was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Billie Jean (Johns) Stacy on July 4, 2015; one son, Andrew Stacy on August 5, 2000; one sister, Oleta Griffin; and his parents.
​He is survived by three sons, Phillip Stacy and wife, Charmaine, of Rogers, Matthew Stacy and wife, Melanie, of Bauxite, and Billy Warren and wife, Marion, of Atlanta, Georgia; two daughters, Kim Stacy Western of Jonesboro, and Barbara Griffin Cooper and husband, Kyle, of Jonesboro; twelve grandchildren, Dru Western Ferguson and husband, Brandon, Alex Carroll Western, Emily Nicole Stacy, Catherine Sarah Stacy, Elizabeth Johnson, Jasmine Warren, Tyler Stacy, Griffin Johnson and wife, Heather, Conner Stacy, Maddie Grace Stacy, Jackson Stacy, and Cheyenne Smith; one great-grandchild, Annalee Grace Ferguson; and two sisters, Eloise Hite of Newport, and Mary Alice Ploch of Remmel.
​Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday, 3:00-5:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2015, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ryan Wilson officiating. Interment will be in McCall-Remmel Cemetery.
​Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Joey Don Huey, Jason Huey, Ricky Buford, Sonny Buford, Griffin Johnson, Kyle Cooper, and Kenny Howard.

Obituary:
Mrs. Billie Jean (Johns) Stacy, 83, of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, July 4, 2015. She was born May 22, 1932 in Grubbs, the daughter of Melvin Louis and Arrie Cecil (Springer) Johns.
Mrs. Stacy grew up and graduated from Grubbs High School in 1951. She then attended St. Louis Teacher’s College in St. Louis, Missouri. Mrs. Stacy was a homemaker, and a business partner in Stacy Farms, Stacy Flying Service, and Nu Look Carwash. She also partnered with her daughter, Kim, as owners of Angela’s Fashions.
Mrs. Stacy was a member of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ. She was a Greyhound Booster Club member and a room mother with 27 years standing with the Newport PTA. She was a former 4-H leader and alumni.
Mrs. Stacy loved caring for children, and was wonderful in that capacity. She had aspired to that since she was a young woman. She was spirited and loving, and devoted to her family, whom she loved very much.
Mrs. Stacy was preceded in death by her beloved son, Andrew Stacy; her parents, Melvin and Arrie Springer Johns; four sisters, Hazel Largent, Gertrude Dyer, Ruby Holmes, and Grace Smith; and three brothers, James Edward Johns, Ray Johns, and Rex Johns.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald Ray Stacy of the home; and her children, Kim Stacy-Western of Jonesboro, Phillip Stacy and wife, Charmaine, of Rogers, Matt Stacy and wife, Melanie, of Bauxite, Billy Warren and wife, Marion, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Barbara (Griffin) Cooper and husband, Kyle, of Jonesboro. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Dru Western Ferguson and husband, Brandon, Tyler Stacy, Alex Western, Jasmine Warren, Emily and Catie Stacy, Elizabeth Johnson, Griffin Johnson and wife, Heather, Conner, Maddie, and Jackson Stacy, and Cheyenne Smith; one great-grandchild, Annalee Grace Ferguson; one brother, M.L. Johns of Searcy; several in-laws; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Thursday, July 9, 2015, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2015, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ryan Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in McCall-Remmel Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Conner Stacy, Brandon Ferguson, Wes Western, Tyler Stacy, James Bailey, and Justin Rutledge.
