*When Ira Dell Gregory was born on August 6, 1905, in Heber Springs, Arkansas, her father, Andrew, was 21, and her mother, Artie, was 20. She married George David Purkiss on October 18, 1924. They had three children in 10 years. She died on January 1, 2002, at the age of 96, and was buried in Pangburn, Arkansas.
