Dorothy M. Novak, 86, a resident of Dover, Arkansas, died Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center at Russellville.

She was born January 17, 1925, at Mitchell, South Dakota, to Phillip and Rose Mathine Muth. She was a homemaker, loved crossword puzzles and played gin rummy and Uno with family.

Dorothy was an Air Force wife who moved to different towns and states every few years, even making a home in the hostile environment of Tripoli, Libya. In 1970, she and her husband, with their youngest son, Garret, moved to Dover and built their ranch, which she loved. She was an avid Cowboy and Razorback fan. Dorothy was the pillar of strength, solidarity and serenity when the family was faced with crisis or obstacles. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lt. Col. Glenn O. Novak; two brothers, Lloyd and Everette Muth; and a sister, Janelle Schoenfelder.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gordon Novak and Garret and Regina Novak, all of Russellville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Judith Murphy and Victoria and Marc Pacheco, all of Russellville; two brothers, Martin and Joseph Muth; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2011, at McFadden Cemetery at Dover with the Rev. Michael Galloway officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
