Irene Sturgis, age 95, of Russellville died Wednesday, August 2, 2000, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. A daughter of the late John and Molly Hatley Jones, she was born April 6, 1905, at Dover. A long-time resident of Dover, she was the widow of Mack Sturgis and a member of the Church of Christ. A son, Harold Sturgis, preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bobbye and Charles McAlister of Russellville; a brother and sister-in-law, I.F. and Lorene Jones of Little Rock; one sister, Bertha Moore of Wichita, Kansas; six grandchildren, Charlene Edgar of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Mike McAlister of Russellville, Rene Sturgis of San Antonio, Texas, Jamie Sullivan of Springdale, Jill Bundick of Tyler, Texas and Nisi Sturgis of Conway; nine great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 P.M., Friday at the Dover Church of Christ with Julian Reynolds and Travis Sweet officiating. Burial will be in McFadden Cemetery at Dover by Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Mike and Brad McAlister, Steve Edgar, John Ed Moore, Roger Jones and Cecil Loveless.
Honorary pallbearers include her sewing club and staff and residents of Wildflower.
