Conard G. VanKirk, 79, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at his home.
He was a protestant and Army veteran of World War II, having obtained the rank of staff sergeant. He received the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.
He is survived by one daughter, Elaine Lewis of California; one stepdaughter, Linda Kay Mayfield of Cedarville; four sons, Sammy Joe VanKirk of Van Buren and Dean VanKirk, Joe VanKirk and Jack VanKirk, all of California; two stepsons, Roy Lee Roberts Jr. of Fort Smith and Ralph Dean Roberts of Alma; best friend, Cora VanKirk of Van Buren; four sisters, Monna Rae Connell and Earlene Craft, both of Seneca, Mo., and Shirley Rantaz and Rudella Turner, both of Oklahoma; one brother, Jack VanKirk of Stigler; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held March 30 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
