Lois Novella Geary, 92 of Van Buren, Arkansas died Monday, August 31, 2009 in a local hospital.
She was born Jan. 20, 1917, in Lincoln, Missouri.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Van Buren First Presbyterian Church.

Her favorite hobby was oil painting. She was a very good artist. She taught Sunday school for several years in Missouri, first through 12th grades. In 1939, she married Elmer Judd. He was killed in World War II. During the war, she worked in a factory for the war effort. After the war, she married Arthur Geary. They operated a Foster Freeze Ice Cream Store in Anaheim, Calif. They retired and moved to Van Buren in 1978. Then they traveled in their motor home all over the United States and some in Canada and Mexico, but most of mom's life was spent as a homemaker, which was her crowning glory as she was the sweetest and best mother one could have had.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Geary, in 2003; both parents, Delbert and Nellie Barb; a granddaughter, Susan Moore, in 1978; two brothers, Leland and Loren Barb; and one sister, Geraldine Thiesfield.

She leaves behind three daughters, Priscilla Moore and husband, Carl Sr., Pam Geary and Nancy Geary, all of Van Buren; one sister, Helen Arnold of Cole Camp, Mo.; four grandchildren, Lois Moore and Carl Moore Jr., both of Van Buren, Loree Charles of Long Beach, Calif., and Rebecka Geary Duff and husband, Curtis, both of Van Buren; two great-grandchildren, Diamond Moore Crosslin and husband, Zack, both of Muldrow, and Dillon Moore of Van Buren.

Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.
