Estelle L. Pepper, 86, of El Dorado passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.

She was born January 3, 1923 in Baskin, LA to Eugene Arnold Lawrence and Mary "Mae" Elizabeth Miller Lawrence. Estelle attended Northeast Jr. College (now University of Louisiana at Monroe) for two years, then transferred to Louisiana Tech and graduated with a B.S. in Home Economics in 1945. She taught school in Louisiana, and worked six years with the LA Dept. of Welfare before marrying Elton Pepper in November of 1954. She enjoyed gardening & cooking and was a member of the Union County Quilt Guild and Olive Branch Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Elton "Cotton" Pepper; two brothers Eugene Arnold Lawrence and Travis Wesley Lawrence, and two sisters, Joyce E. Lawrence Thomas and Iva Mae Lawrence McBroom.

Survivors include a daughter, a son, a granddaughter, a grandson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and first cousins.

Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009 in Young's Chapel.Burial followed at Olive Branch Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
