Michael "Mike" Watson, 59, of Fort Smith, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born September 19, 1951 in Richmond, TX to Dale and Gwendolyn Watson.

He retired from Whirlpool after thirty-seven years of service. He has served as a full time Deputy with the Sebastian County Sheriff's Department for two years and prior to that he served as a Reserve Deputy for twelve years. He was a member of the Sebastian County Sheriff's Department SWAT Team, Community Bible Church and Old Fort Gun Club. He loved hunting, fishing, martial arts and practical pistol matches.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Dallas Busby of Mountainburg, mother Gwen Riggs of Mountainburg and father Dale Watson of Houston, TX.

Funeral service was 11:00 AM Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Community Bible Church at 9201 Dallas with Dr. Ed Saucier officiating. Burial wss at Vaught Cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife Cynde of the home, two daughters Mitzi Traxson and husband Tim of Fayetteville and Melissa Woodard of Fort Smith, one brother Pat Watson of Mountainburg, three grandchildren Sam Traxson and Kaden and Jozlyn Woodard and a close cousin Ann Treat and husband Jerry of Mountainburg.

Pallbearers were Mark Koenigseder, Carl Robinson, Bill Shibley, Sonya Cooper, Bob Ross and Bruce Caselman. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Sebastian County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard and members of the Sebastian County
Sheriff's Department.
