Robert Harrell “Bob” Gafford passed peacefully on June 28, 2017. He is loved dearly by many, and was known as daddy and papaw to his family. He was born to the late, Willie and Annie Gafford in Clinton, Kentucky on August 11, 1932.

He was an Army Veteran with two tours in Korea and Vietnam who led an eventful and courageous life. Those he left behind to honor his life will remember his funny, arm wrestling, dancing and generous soul.
Bob was fortunate enough to find love and honor with his wife, Shirley. Married in 1996, they formed a caring and faithful relationship. Although we all know he could be an ornery man at times, Shirley knew his gentle side and loved him through his stubborn ways. The love they had was compassionate and tender. She will undoubtedly miss her beloved Bob.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Juanita Gafford; sister, Edna Gafford and brother, William Gafford.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Gafford; sisters, Helen (Bruce) Bunn, Vivian Gafford and Sonja (Bill) Robinson; daughters, Cathy (David) Skagerberg, Roxanne (Darrell) Arnold, Laura (Dennis) Price, Kathy (Harold) Black and Gina (Nicholas) Sullivan; son, Robert Wilson; grandchildren, Teresa Garcia, David Skagerberg, Bobby Henson, Shannon Williams, Sean Whittamore, Brittany Hicks, Chase Arnold, Amanda Arnold-Collins, Sandy Brady, Gary Price, Dennis Ray Price, Nik Black, Tim Black, Mikki Varner, Krista Shelnutt, George Shelnutt and Gavin Sullivan.

Bob is also survived by an abundant amount of great-grandchildren who will miss their papaw profoundly, especially little Jaelynn.

A special thank you to Harold Black for the bond he created with his father-in-law. A relationship like no other.

A celebration of Bob’s life and memory will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11:00AM at Dial & Dudley Funeral Home (4212 Hwy 5 North; Bryant, AR 72022) with visitation one hour prior. A graveside service will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park (7401 Hwy 5; Alexander, AR 72002).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Saline Memorial Hospice (23157 I-30 S. Bryant, Arkansas 72022).
