ROGERS — LaVonne Viola Gabbert, 96, of Rogers, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, from Ashley Health and Rehab. She was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Wright County, Iowa to Irvin and Hattie Morrison.

She is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick" Gabbert of the home; a sister, Verldean Bell of Des Moines, IA; grandson, James McNee of Los Angeles, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband. Emory McNee Sr.; and her son, Emory McNee Jr.

She was employed as an accountant at Iowa State University and Ames for several years.

In 1964, she moved to the Minneapolis area, where she met Richard. They were married in Rochester, Minn., on Dec. 31, 1965. They continued to live in Minneapolis until 1986, when they retired and moved to Rogers.

LaVonne was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was active in the Republican Women Club and the Friendly Bookstore as well.

Memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Pamela Cicioni officiating.

Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 2535 W. New Hope Road, Rogers, AR 72758.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers. Words of comfort may be expressed or memories shared at stockdalefuneral.com.
