WEST FORK — LeRoy Perry Sherrid, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in West Fork, Ark., on March 31, 2015. He was born April 15, 1937, in Ashland, Kan.

LeRoy was a hardworkng man from the age of 13. He started by helping his Father in a mechanic shop working on various motors. Over the course of his life he had three long-term jobs before finally retiring from Wal-Mart in December 2014, after 16 years of service.

He was full of incomparable compassion, always putting others before himself. Everyone notes his smile and his sense of humor as his best qualities. He will be loved and remembered by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.

LeRoy joined his parents, Rosetta Ruth Mohler and Clell LeRoy Sherrid, as well as his daughter, Lisa Gail Fairbanks when he went home to be with our Lord.

He is survived by his brother, Daniel Ray Sherrid, his wife of 57 years Betty Jean Sherrid, daughter Tammy Sue Fernandez, his eight grandchildren; Michael, Stephanie, Brandon, Tristen, Brandi, Jarrod, Chelsie, and Kelsie as well as five great-grandchildren; Devin, Breonna, Alivia, Kylee, and Fvalyn.

In his time on earth, LeRoy enjoyed his midnight rides on his Honda 750 with his wife, trapshooting (he was the master), hunting pheasants, and fishing.

His friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, April 3, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Beard's Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday, April 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Brentwood Cemetery under the direction of Beard's. Condolences at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.

WEST FORK — Betty Jean Sherrid, 74, passed away peacefully in her home in West Fork, Ark., on March 17, 2016. She was born Feb. 19, 1942, in Dodge City, Kan.

Betty married her late husband when she was 15 1/2. From a young age, she developed and thrived in the role of wife, mother and grandmother. This is the role she was best at, and what she will be most remembered for.

She was a hard worker and would do anything to provide for her family. Her favorite job was at a restaurant called The Hitchin' Post in Dodge City.

She loved animals so much that if any stray came along, they'd have a new home. Her favorite stories were of her and her late husband, LeRoy's midnight rides on their Honda 750. One time she was riding and the throttle got stuck causing her to ride a wheelie for two blocks.

She was one of the funniest, stubborn, orneriest people you would meet. She was passionate in what she believed in and the strongest woman her family has ever known. She was as outspoken as they come. The word that best describes her is "spitfire." She will be greatly missed.

Betty joined her parents, Fred Brock and Ada Watkins; husband, LeRoy Sherrid; and daughter, Lisa Gail Fairbanks when she went home to be with our Lord.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Sue Fernandez; her eight grandchildren; Michael, Stephanie, Brandon, Tristen, Brandi, Jarrod, Chelsie and Kelsie; as well as five great-grandchildren, Devin, Breonna, ALivia, Kylee and Evalyn.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Beard's Chapel with Reverend Jim Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in the Brentwood Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016, at Beard's Chapel.

Condolences at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.
