FAYETTEVILLE — Roy Dean Howard, age 93, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, at the Arkansas State Veteran's Home in Fayetteville. He was born on Aug. 31, 1927, in Tulsa, Okla., to William Clyde and Annie (McChristian) Howard.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline (Ball) Howard; one sister; and two brothers.

Roy entered the Merchant Marines in 1945 where he served for three years. He then joined the United States Army where he spent four years serving overseas in Germany during the Korean War. He spent many years following his military service continuing to serve his fellow veterans as cook at the VA hospital. Roy was also a devoted church member at the Johnson Church of Christ for many years.

He is survived by his two sons, Timothy Howard and wife Jane of Springdale, and Stanley Howard and wife Kimberly of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Christopher, Kevin, Noel, Nathan, Jordana and Johanna; many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2., 2021, at Stuckey Cemetery in Johnson. A graveside service will follow at 2. p.m.

FAYETTEVILLE — Pauline Ball Howard, 79, of Fayetteville died June 10, 2004, at Fayetteville. She was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Ball Creek to Hosie Andrew and Lucy Mae Neal Ball. She was a homemaker and a member of the Johnson Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Dean Howard of the home; two sons, Timothy Duane Howard of Springdale and Stanley Dean Howard of Fayetteville; one sister, Nadine Brooks of Farmington; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Johnson Church of Christ with Johnny Dockery officiating. Burial will be in Stuckey Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m.
