Ruth Gay Melvin, 85, of Beebe, died Saturday June 14, 2008. She was a retired Music teacher and a Methodist. She is survived by her husband, Robert Melvin of Mary Esther, Florida, two sons; Don Gay and wife Juanita of McRae and Jim Gay of North Little Rock, 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her first husband, Clarence Gay, a son Ronnie Gay and a grandson Tony Don Gay. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, June 17, at Westbrook funeral home .Graveside service will be Wednesday, 10 A.M. at Lebanon Cemetery, McRae.

When Clarence Dixon Gay was born on December 7, 1908, in Arkansas, his father, Richard, was 28 and his mother, Ella, was 21. He married Leoda Parchman and they had one son together. He also had one daughter from another relationship. He then married Erma Ruth Hale and they had three children together. He died on May 13, 1995, at the age of 86, and was buried in White, Arkansas.
