JOHNSON — Donald Eugene "Don" Carter, 83, of Johnson, died Saturday, Oct 1, 2016. He was born Jan. 14, 1933, in Springdale to Floyd and Minnie Keen Carter.
Don served in the Army during the Korean War. After retirement from his trucking company, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and his dog, Sammy.
He is survived by two children, Jerry Carter and wife, Sandi of Springdale, Margie Whetsel and husband, Dana of Oceanside, Calif.; a sister, Bea Shane of Springdale; dear friend and companion, Gwen Baker of Johnson; four grandchildren, Erik Courtney and wife, Andrea, and children Arlyne and Erik, Jr.; John Carter and wife, Amanda and children, Oliver and Elena; Kristal Miser and husband, Eric, and children Kahlea, Beckett and Kora; Kimberley Orona and husband Michael, and children Hunter and Fisher; and another great-grandchild, Shaydra, daughter of the late grandson, Kenny Harp. Don was also preceded in death by his wife, Christine, in 2005.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Stuckey Cemetery in Johnson. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home, online guestbook at www.heritageofnwa.com.

SPRINGDALE — Christine B. Carter, 69, of Springdale died June 14, 2005, at Springdale. She was born Feb. 8, 1936, in Ozark, Mo., to John Calvin and Margie Bell Coins Cobb. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenny Harp in 2004.
Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Carter of the home, to whom she was married June 7, 1952; one son, Jerry Carter and wife Sandi of Springdale; one daughter, Margie Whetsel and husband Dana of Oceanside, Calif; one brother, Gene Cobb of Springdale; two sisters, Dorothy Smith of Lowell and Ora Martin of Louisiana; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Stuckey Cemetery in Johnson with Rick Carter officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3291 S. Thompson, Suite D104, Springdale, 72764.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Sisco Chapel in Springdale.
