On April 1, 1927 a beautiful baby girl named Mamie Jo Moore was born to Reverend James Moore and Lydia Hanson Moore. Shortly afterwards other siblings were born.

Mamie accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a very young age, while attending Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Buena Vista, Arkansas. As a very active young member at Sweet Home, she served as a deaconess, choir member and chairman over the mission circle group.

At the age of sixteen, she took the hand of Edgar Allen Porchia on November 27, 1943; to this union 17 children were born.

During her Christian journey, she was a member of First Baptist Church-Cordell, and Greater Paradise under the leadership of her husband, Dr. E.A. Porchia. She subsequently united with First Baptist Church, Main, El Dorado, Arkansas.

Mamie loved her husband, and family. She enjoyed talking about her childhood to her family, but most about Christ.

On October 22, 2011 Mamie was recognized at the Annual Gala Banquet and Ball in Camden, Arkansas; also in 2014, she was recognized by the Heritage Registry of Who’s Who.

Mamie never worked outside the home. She took great pride in sewing, reading to her children, preparing wholesome meals, nurturing and praying for and with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Edgar Allen Porchia, two daughters, Vedia Porchia-Anderson and Naomi Porchia- Johnson; two grandsons, Phillip Arnel Porchia Jr. and Master Peyton Aaron Brown; three sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by her 15 children, William of El Dorado, Arkansas, Russell of Bay City, Michigan, Rev. Dr. Shadrach (Shirley) of Camden, Arkansas, Bobbie (Harold) Massey of El Dorado, Arkansas, Emanuel (Shelia) of El Dorado, Arkansas, Edgar Allen Jr. (Mearlie) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Carolyn Waller of El Dorado, Arkansas, Rev. Ronnie W. (Cynthia) of Enterprise, Alabama, Joann (Rev. Jerome Washington) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Rev. Roy L. (Jean) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Vivian (Ricky) Manning of Bryant, Arkansas, Rev. Phillip A. (Cathy) of Clarksville, Texas, Phyllis of El Dorado, Arkansas, Tonya R. (Donald) Green of Camden, Arkansas and Cynthia (Marcus) Wallace of Mesquite, Texas; 33 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one brother, Grady Moore of Camden, Arkansas, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

Service to be held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Douglas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Eternal Rest Cemetery, Camden. Public Visitation will be held Friday from 1-5 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home.
