Thelma Cruce Lovett of Bryant, formerly of Monticello, departed this life on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the age of 70. She was born on May 4, 1940 to the late Reuel E. Cruce, Sr., and Nancy Phillips Cruce. Mrs. Lovett was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello and a Retired Social Studies Teacher from Drew Central Schools in Monticello. Thelma actively followed politics and current affairs, and loved reading, traveling and fishing. She enjoyed activities with the “Golden Girls”, who were her very special friends. Mrs. Lovett was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Benton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Lovett; one son, Earl Buckley “Bucky” Bush; one brother, James Henry “Pete” Cruce, Jr. and a sister, Jane Cruce Yates.
She is survived by her son, Wade Bush (Marza) of Lindale, Texas; two granddaughters, Bailey Bush of Monticello, Arkansas and Jacquie Bush of Lindale, Texas; daughter-in-law, Donna Bush of Monticello, Arkansas; brother, R. E. Cruce, Jr. (Alverne) of Monticello, Arkansas; two sisters, Sarah Cruce Marcussen (Wayne) of Benton, Arkansas and Carolyn Cruce of Tallahassee, Florida and many nieces, nephews and a very special friend, Earnestina Rogers, who helped take care of her for four years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 19, 2010 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Mr. Pleasant Methodist Church (Campground) in Monticello with Rev. Bob Warford officiating. Burial will follow at Campground Cemetery.
