Vera Lee Parish, 83, of Texarkana, Ark., died Monday, May 18, 2015, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Parish was born Oct. 13, 1931, in Logansport, La. She was a deaconess, pastor’s aide and member of College Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Willie Washington and Jacfus Parish Sr.
Survivors include five sons, Willie Washington of Huntington Beach, Calif., Oscar Washington and George Washington of Texarkana, De’Aunte Hunter of Atlanta, Texas, and Jacfus Parish Jr. of Tulsa, Okla.; four daughters, Margaret Johnson and Mary Cleveland of Texarkana, Yvonne Hannon of Jacksonville, N.C., and Helen Threadgill of Houston; two brothers, Henry Daughtery Sr. and Otis Daughtery of Shreveport, La.; two sisters, Eva Johnson of San Antonio and Addie Davis of Shreveport, La.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Warren officiating. Burial will be in East Memorial Gardens under direction of Lyles Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body may be viewed 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
