Opal Imogene Stoner Mauldin, resident of Fisher, Arkansas, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in Harris Hospital in Newport, Arkansas. She was 92 years of age.

Visitation was Friday, January 24, 2014 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. all at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCrory. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Thompson-Wilson Funeral Directors of McCrory in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mauldin was born in Battle Axe, Arkansas, the daughter of Edgar and Lizzie Ward Stoner. She was married on December 17, 1938 to Lloyd Mauldin who preceded her in death. Mrs. Mauldin was a homemaker and loved doing all of the things that homemakers do. She was a great cook, gardener, and expert quilter. People from all of the country sent her quilt tops to make into quilts for them. Her stitching was very unique. Mrs. Mauldin loved to babysit, can the vegetables and fruit that she grew, work puzzles and play Bingo. A member of the Fisher Baptist Church, she participated in all of the activities. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and always worked in Bible School.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Mauldin and wife, Joyce of Newport, two daughters: Rita Bush and husband Buster of Fisher, Arkansas and Peggy and Keith Lloyd of Grubbs, one brother and his wife, Alvis and Shirley Stoner of McCrory, three sisters; Betty Sue Tiner of Beebe, Arkansas, Mable Swanson of McCrory and Rose Lynn Wakefoose of Jonesboro, 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Eugene and Lizzie Ward Stoner, two sisters, Elwanda Pennington and Anna Cariker, sons, Billy, Eugene and James, and one grandchild, Justin Mauldin.


Pallbearers were Elijah Cadle, Greg Kelley, Keith Lloyd, Jimmy Mack, Jeremy Mauldin, and Rayburn Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Eldon Dixon, Donald Glenn and her Sunday School Class at Fisher Baptist Church.
