Helen Shumard, a resident of Jonesboro, Arkansas and formerly of Wynne, Arkansas, departed this life, Friday, April 22, 2011, she was eighty-seven. She was born, May 30, 1923, in Griffithville, Arkansas, the daughter of John Joseph and Mamie Marie (Carr) Cox. She married Mr. Lloyd Irvin Shumard on December 19, 1943.
Mrs. Shumard was a Homemaker, member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Forrest City, Arkansas, a fifty year member of the Extension Homemakers. She enjoyed the extensions service, making wedding cakes, arts and crafts, oil painting, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, only daughter: Patricia Holland and an infant brother.
Helen is survived by her only son: Keith Shumard and wife Linda of Paragould, Arkansas, one sister: Hilton McNeil of Burnet, Texas, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted, Monday, April 25, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home chapel in Wynne, Arkansas. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Visitation will be held, Monday morning prior to the service from 10 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. 870-238-9400
