When Vilona Charlotte "Lottie" Benton Calhoun was born on March 19, 1900, in Arkansas, her father, John, was 37, and her mother, Martha, was 30. She married Herbert Preston Calhoun on October 8, 1916, in her hometown. They had four children during their marriage. She died on July 3, 1966, in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 66, and was buried in Arkansas.
