Obituary:
Martha Kate Cox Wampler, resident of McCrory, Arkansas departed this life on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from St. Bernard’s Hospital of Jonesboro at the age of 67. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 29, 1950 the daughter of the late Sam and Katherine Palmer Cox.

Ms. Martha was a high school graduate and attended Arkansas Tech University of Russellville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McCrory where she sang in the choir. Having a love for helping people, she had served on the McCrory Ministerial Alliance. Ms. Martha was employed for the Farmers Merchant Bank in Marianna for over 21 years. She was a floral designer for the McCrory Flower Shop and also was employed for the City of McCrory as a Woodruff County District Court Clerk. She enjoyed working in her garden of flowers, cooking for her family with her specialty being homemade chicken and dumplings. Ms. Martha loved reading murder mysteries, teaching Anna how to paint on canvas, drinking diet cokes and taking her grandchildren to the pool.

Ms. Martha is survived by one son, Robert Hayes Ingold of Vian, Oklahoma, two daughters, Katherine Elizabeth Watson and husband Brian of McCrory, Arkansas, Anna Katherine Wampler of McCrory, Arkansas, three grandchildren, Katelyn Joanne Wheeler of McCrory, Arkansas, Mary Frances Brogdon of McCrory, Arkansas, Aaron Alexander Watson of Velvet Ridge, Arkansas, one great-granddaughter, Josie Clare Alford of McCrory, Arkansas.

The family requests that memorials may be made to the McCrory First United Methodist Church or to the Ministerial Alliance Outreach Program.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Micah Ayers, Steve Cranford, Matt Hunter, John Jones, Joe Slocum III, Kevin Watson, Sammy Watson, Jr. and Jared Williamson. Honorary pallbearers will be Barney Fields, John Heath, Millard Heath and Sammy Watson, Sr.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 9th between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with funeral services on Thursday, May 10th beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Thompson-Wilson McCrory Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Velvet Ridge Cemetery.
