Thelma Jean Redding, 86, of Conway, AR formerly of Camden, AR passed away at her home Tuesday, March 4, 2014. She was born to Grady H. and Lula Mae Dunn Cathey on August 12, 1927 in Smackover, AR.
Mrs. Redding graduated from Smackover High School in 1945. She worked at Southwestern Bell and the Ouachita County Hospital until her retirement. She was a Baptist and was lovingly known as “Maw”. She loved all kinds of music, from new artists to old school Elvis and Frank and country music as well, especially George Strait! She was a very social person who loved people and would do anything to help. In her last years, she became an avid Facebook fan. She was loved and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Wray of Conway, Becky Futrell and husband, Dwight of Hot Springs, AR, and her son, Louis Wray of Conway; grandchildren, Chris Canfield and wife, Christy of Magnolia, Austin Futrell of El Dorado, Lauren Wray of Conway and Landon Wray of Conway; great-granddaughter, McKenzie Canfield of Magnolia, AR; brothers, Grady Cathey and wife, Lula Mae of Hot Springs and Lynwood Cathey and wife, Joyce of El Dorado; Niece Kelly Cathey Smith and husband Tommy of England, AR; Nephews Mark Cathey and Dr. Steven Cathey of Little Rock, AR.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 7 at Proctor Funeral Home with burial in Dunn Cemetery. Rev. Carl Tillery will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Austin Futrell, Chris Canfield, Landon Wray, Doug Hensley, Glen Canfield and David McLendon. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
