Vera Smith Denton, 97, of El Dorado, passed from this life on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.

Vera was born on Jan. 27, 1919 in Summerfield, La., to the late Willie Eva Lewis Smith and Clyde Zimmerman Smith.
Vera was a longtime member of West Side Assembly of God and in recent years, a member of First Assembly of God of El Dorado. She was a homemaker and formerly kept kids for many years.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Travis William Denton; one sister, Clara Adell Miller; and two brothers, Ray Smith and Grady Smith.
Survivors include one daughter, Pat Hollis and her husband, Calvin, of Spearsville, La.; one son, Garland Denton and his wife, Jean, of Kensett; six grandchildren, Vicky Denton, Kim Denton, Kurtis Denton, Kristal Fish, Becky Garner, and Sheri Davis; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. today at Arlington Memorial Park with Bro. Don Ashcraft officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.
