Obituary:
Sergeant First Class Myrna Gene "Ed" Johnson, U.S. Army (Ret.), age 72, of Warren, AR. died Friday September 29, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. Born March 18, 1934 in Hermitage, AR. a son of the late Horace Johnson and Martella Robertson Johnson he was a retired 20 year U.S. Army veteran serving as a combat veteran in Vietnam, owner/operator Ann's Restaurant 20 years and member Union Hill Baptist Church. Also, preceding him in death was a son John Paul Johnson and a brother Jerry Max Johnson. Survivors are his wife Marthaline Temple Johnson whom he married August 5, 1981. 3 sons Philip Johnson of El Dorado, AR., David Lee Johnson of Warren, AR., Charles David Atkins of Monticello, AR. 2 daughters Charlotte Renee Pierce of Huntsville, AL., Brenda Burkart of Banks, AR. 2 brothers Earnest M. Johnson of Warren, AR., Gene Parrish of Kansas City, MO., 3 sisters Marnell Smith and Patricia Ann Burchett both of Fordyce, AR., Mary Tucker of Monticello, AR. 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Monday October 2, Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann and Rev. Jay Bagwell officiating. Paige Grider was organist and soloist was Melvin Mills. Burial with flag presentation wasin Union Hill Cemetery at Ingalls by Frazer's Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Shelby Brewster, Scott Richardson, Tony Johnson, Jim Watson, Fay Brown, Marvin Gardner and Richard Tucker. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Huitt, Dan Vickers, A.G. Haygood, Marl Lawrence, Wayne Lawrence, James Lawrence, Daniel Robertson, Lucas Johnson, Jimmy Burkhart, Jacob Hoffpierce, Jimmy Pierce, Dr. Brad Baltz, Mike Hammons and the Hermitage High School Class of 1953.
