Henry Speed Bays was born on January 15, 1908, in Grenada, Mississippi. He lived in Memphis, Tennessee, for more than 10 years from 1928 to 1938. He died on February 10, 1948, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 40, and was buried in Grenada, Mississippi.
